Samsung to Hold Event on August 7 to Unveil Galaxy Note 10

Samsung yesterday announced plans to hold an event on Wednesday, August 7 in New York City, where it will unveil the next-generation Galaxy Note device. Samsung splits its smartphone unveilings into two events each year, and in February unveiled its Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. The Galaxy Note line is Samsung's larger smartphone equipped with a stylus, and the Note 10's unveiling will come just about a month ahead of when we're expecting to see Apple's 2019 iPhone lineup. There were no details provided about the upcoming device, but Samsung says it is going to "unveil new devices designed to take the Galaxy ecosystem's connectivity to the next level." The event's invite features an S-Pen and a camera lens. Rumors and leaked design renders suggest the Galaxy Note 10 will feature 6.28 and 6.75-inch glass bodies (two sizes are rumored) with the same boxy design used in previous note devices. The front is said to feature an edge-to-edge display with a single center hole punch camera while the back is said to include a quad-camera setup. There are three traditional cameras (12-megapixel wide-angle, 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle, and 12-megapixel telephoto) along with a fourth time-of-flight 3D depth camera, which is a feature that rumors have indicated Apple will bring to the iPhone in 2020. It's also supposed to include an under-display fingerprint sensor like the Galaxy S10, and 5G variants may be offered as well. Samsung may also use its upcoming August event to provide more detail on when we can expect the delayed Galaxy Fold to launch. Samsung planned to release it earlier this year but then canceled its debut after multiple poor reviews from media sites. Samsung has also shown off a Bixby smart speaker several times, which is designed to compete with the HomePod. The Galaxy Home speaker has not yet launched and little has been said about it recently, but we could hear more at the Unpacked event. We don't know when Apple will unveil its own 2019 smartphone lineup, but based on past years, we can expect the Cupertino-based company to hold an event somewhere around the first or second week of September, with September 9 or September 10 being likely possible candidates. Apple plans to offer its 2019 iPhones in three sizes, identical to the current iPhone lineup. The two higher-end devices will continue to use OLED, while the iPhone XR successor will feature an LCD and a cheaper price tag. The iPhone XS and XS Max successors will use triple-lens cameras, while the XR successor will feature a dual-lens camera. The camera updates will be the biggest changes to the iPhones in 2019. No 5G connectivity is coming this year, but faster WiFi and LTE is expected, as are some neat little tweaks like bilateral wireless charging for charging AirPods and other devices with the iPhone. A much more substantial update with 3D cameras, new sizes, and 5G is expected in 2020. For more on the 2019 iPhones, make sure to check out our roundup.

Report: Samsung has completed the Galaxy Fold redesign to fix hinge, display issues

The Samsung Galaxy Fold launch saga still rumbles on. According to a report by Bloomberg, Samsung has fixed many of the issues that arose during the failed launch of Galaxy Fold with a redesign of key components. In the report, Bloomberg claims that the redesign of the hinge and display found on the Fold were a top priority. This has resulted in a hinge that has been pushed “slightly upward from the screen (it’s now flush with the display) to help stretch the film further when the phone opens.”The protective film that confused many reviewers who then peeled it off has now been “stretched to wrap around the entire screen and flow into the outer bezels.” While people did ask why reviewers would peel off the screen protector, in their defense, it did look as though it could be removed.Considering that Huawei pushed back its own Mate X foldable launch, you could argue that the Galaxy Fold debacle has really damaged confidence in Samsung products. Given the past experience with the ill-fated Note 7 and its recall, it’s clear that this has been at the forefront of the Korean firm’s mind with this redesign. This latest report also claims that now the Galaxy Fold has been fixed, major components including the display and battery are being shipped to Vietnam for assembly. A launch date has yet to be discussed, although Bloomberg states that this is unlikely to be at the Galaxy Unpacked event in early August alongside the Galaxy Note 10.At this point, we are still unsure if we will see the Galaxy Fold before the end of the year. Given that Huawei pushed back the Mate X until at least September to ensure it is fully tested, Samsung has some leeway to rerelease the Fold globally. What do you think? Will we ever actually see a “fixed” Galaxy Fold, and would you fork out nearly $2,000 to be an early adopter of the redesign? Let us know in the comments section below.

Samsung Galaxy Watch, Active get support for highly-customizable Pujie Black watchface

Design matters when it comes to the wearable on your wrist, and that extends to the watchface too. Pujie Black has been an excellent option for Wear OS users as far as a super-customizable watchfaces go, and with its latest update, the app is making its way to Samsung’s Galaxy Watch family.Revealed in a post over on Medium, Pujie Black v4.1 is adding official support for Samsung’s smartwatches including the Galaxy Watch, Watch Active, Galaxy Sport, and soon, the older Gear S3.Pujie Black for Galaxy Watch is powered by the same app from the Google Play Store that’s long been used for the Wear OS version. Notably, Galaxy Watch owners will need to be using the paid version of the app in order to use the watchface, and all of the customization settings are accessed on the connected smartphone. A triple-tap on the watchface itself allows for switching between presets. It is with great pride that we present the new version of Pujie Black. Starting version 4.1 Pujie Black is now available for Samsung Galaxy Watches (besides every possible Wear OS device out there)! The Tizen OS version has almost the exact same functionality as the Wear OS version and can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store for free. It requires authentication by the paid phone app, so there is currently no standalone version.Pujie Black’s phone app is available on the Google Play Store, and the Tizen app is now on the Galaxy Store.

Samsung Galaxy A90 5G Variant Spotted on Geekbench With Snapdragon 855 SoC, 6GB of RAM

The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is said to sport a 4,500mAh batteryThe upcoming Samsung Galaxy A90 has been a pretty active contender in the rumour mill lately. According to reports and rumours, the Galaxy A90 will be packing quite a punch with key specifications and features including a Snapdragon 855 SoC under the hood, at least 6GB of RAM, a beefy battery, as well as a good set of cameras, to name a few. And if all these high-end flagship features were not enough, then the Galaxy A90 is also rumoured to have a 5G version of the handset alongside the 4G version. Separately, the alleged case of the Galaxy A90 was leaked, tipping a few details about its design.According to a report by SamMobile, a recent listing on the popular benchmarking platform, Geekbench, shows that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A90 5G (SM-A908N) is indeed going to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC under the hood. Now, considering that 5G connectivity is only possible on a flagship chipset just like the Snapdragon 855 or an Exynos 9820, this will be a first for Samsung using a flagship-grade processor on a mid-range smartphone. Other than this, the listing also shows that the phone will be sporting 6GB of RAM.In a different report by Galaxy Club, the 5G version of the Galaxy A90 won't just stay limited to the South Korean market but it will also be available for a host of European countries. The European model number of the handset is SM-A908B. Galaxy Club also spotted a battery certification (EB-BA908BY) by Samsung, that shows that this upcoming 5G smartphone is going to sport a huge 4,500mAh battery. In a separate report by GSMArena, an alleged case of the Galaxy A90 has been listed on a Norwegian retailer, tipping the smartphone's design from both the front and the back. It can be seen that the smartphone has an edge to edge display with an under the screen fingerprint sensor. The rear is home to a triple rear camera setup with an LED flash. Additionally, there's a dark spot right at the top of the frame of the smartphone, that suggests the Galaxy A90 might sport a centre aligned pop-up selfie camera. Now all of this information is based on reports and rumours and nothing is official until it actually is. So, we'd recommend taking all this news with a pinch of salt. But if somehow all these rumours do turn out to be true, then the Samsung Galaxy A90 will surely give its competitors a tough fight as its turning out to be a pretty formidable mid-range smartphone. Now, it all depends on Samsung on how they price this smartphone.

Official Samsung renders for Galaxy Note 10+ and Watch Active 2 leak

With less than a month until the next Samsung Galaxy event, more and more details about the Note 10 have leaked. The latest shows official Samsung renders for the large phone and Watch Active 2, which will likely be announced alongside each other.Tweeted by Evan Blass this afternoon, we see the larger Galaxy Note 10+ in an angled shot that very clearly shows the flat top of the phone. Thanks to a colorful wallpaper, the centered Infinity-O hole-punch front-facing camera is particularly striking. However, due to the angle of this image, Samsung has cleverly obscured the top and bottom bezel that will be clearly visible when looking at the device head-on.Resting just on top of the screen is a blue/purplish S-Pen that fits the color scheme of the rest of the device. This is likely an official render from Samsung due to the diagonal Galaxy Note10+ text style.Meanwhile, @evleaks also shared a picture of the Watch Active 2. It is similar in style to a previous render leak for this wearable. However, we now see the rose gold case variant that’s matched with an equally pink elastic wristband. The notable visual difference from the original is how the top button is now elongated and pill-shaped rather than a circle like the bottom one. We see a simple analog watchface, while the screen still has a notable bezel.Given the matching render style, it’s very likely that the phone and watch will be announced together on August 7. Similar to the first Watch Active and Galaxy S10 earlier this year, this is a very aggressive wearable update cycle for Samsung.

Galaxy Note 10: Everything we know about Samsung’s new superphone

Ahead of the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, we have quite a bit of information and plenty of rumors to delve into.Always the biggest of the Galaxy line, the Note 10 looks set to slightly buck the trend of “all-out Galaxy” due to some core removals. Some of these omissions might annoy some of the more hardcore Samsung and Note fans out there. We just hope that the introductions are enough to keep people happy — although we’re genuinely not too sure about that.In the past, the Galaxy Note line has always felt more like a “revision” of the Galaxy S line, by adding more productivity features and enhancements that take advantage of the — normally — larger display and S-Pen support. In recent years, though, the Galaxy S seems to have encroached a little too close on the Note. This year looks set to be the first time in a while that we’re seeing the return of true differentiation — in the design, at the very least. This is every rumor, tidbit, and snippet of information we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.We know that the Note 10 Unpacked 2019 event is set for August 7 in New York City. As for availability, reports suggest that the lineup will go on sale in South Korea on August 23, closely followed by other markets globally. We are expecting two devices to be shown at the keynote, although there are rumors of a 5G-powered Note 10 that could be announced, too. This would definitely fit in line with the Galaxy S10 5G we saw announced earlier this year. Of course, this is still speculation, so take it with a massive pinch of salt as conflicting reports suggest that one of the two guaranteed devices could offer 5G support.SpecificationsAs the Samsung flagship line of 2019, the Note 10 and Note 10+ will go all out as you would expect. That means a Snapdragon 855 chipset — although unfortunately, we won’t see the overclocked 855 Plus — at least 8 GB of RAM, and up to 1 TB of internal storage. Europe will get the new 7nm Exynos 9825 chipset rather than the Snapdragon equivalent. The superb OnePlus 7 Pro has superfast eUFS 3.0 storage, and while we aren’t 100% sure, we do believe rumors that the Note 10 and Note 10+ will come with the faster storage. That should make the device blazingly fast in the same way that the OnePlus 7 Pro is.As for battery capacities, notorious smartphone industry leaker @IceUniverse stated earlier this year that the Note 10 Pro (now known as the Note 10+) will come with a massive 4,500 mAh battery. The slightly smaller (but still large) Note 10 is expected to come with at least a 4,100 mAh battery to match the Galaxy S10+.Ice universe@UniverseIceThe Chinese version of Note10 is divided into two types:1.Note10 4G, minimum specification: 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM2.Note10+ 5G, minimum specification: 12GB RAM + 512GB ROM2,3872:46 PM - Jul 18, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy331 people are talking about thisAny potential Note 10 5G variant could go larger still, if it is indeed a separate model like we saw with the S10 5G. Could we see the first Samsung flagship with a mammoth 5,000 mAh battery? We don’t have too much longer to wait to see if that will be the case. There are some odd differences between the two known models, though. The charge speed of the Note 10 standard will be capped at 25 W, whereas the Note 10+ is expected to come with 45 W charging capabilities. The downside is that Samsung could ship with a 25 W charge brick in the box — meaning the disappointing added cost if you want 45 W charging. Wireless charging is rumored to be supported up to 20 W, though.
